Last Thursday the Confederation of African Football (CAF) gave the Congo-Brazzaville football association ten days to ensure they represent Congolese U-17 player Langa- Lesse Bercy for MRI scan who is been charged of age limit cheating in the qualifiers matches.
The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) appealed to CAF to investigate claims that the Congolese committed age fraud during the African youth qualifiers and enabled his side to qualify the AYC finals after eliminating Serengeti Boys in the final qualifying round.
Speaking to the ‘Sunday News’ yesterday in Dar es Salaam, the Tanzania Football Federation(TFF), Information and Communication, Alfred Lucas said they were eagerly awaiting the fate of the case and hopefully for positive outcomes.
“Currently we do not have any information on whether the Congolese will this time decide to represent Bercy for the MRI test which they have been avoiding for several times, but due to the tendays ultimatum given which ended yesterday (Sunday) we are hopeful the matter will be decided whether the test has been conducted or not,” said the officer.
TFF subsequently launched a protest alleging that their opponents had fielded six over age players however CAF singled out Bercy for MRI test, but the player failed to take the test twice.
The situation which led CAF to give the Congolese football association ten days to ensure they present Bercy in Gabon without missing so that that they can resolve the issue before the AFCON final match. Namibia also questioned the age of Bercy who scored against them and also Serengeti Boys.
Congo-Brazzaville eliminated Namibia and Tanzania in the qualifiers.
